CONFESSION AND COMMITMENT –John Lewis

We all live in the same house,
we all must be part of the effort
to hold down our little house.
When you see something
that is not right,
not fair,
not just
do something about it.
Say something.
Have the courage.
Have the backbone.
You must be bold and brave,
courageous
and find a way
to get in the way.
Walk with the wind.
It’s all going to work out.
Let it be so
Let it be soon.
Amen

PRAYER OF DEDICATION:

We send our offerings
to do God’s work—
May our offerings become a vivid sign
of our gratitude—
for simple things:
fresh air to breathe,
clean water to drink,
the taste of food,
the comforts of home.
We bring to mind
all the warmth of humankind
that we have known
the strength of parents and grandparents,
tears we have shed,
tears we have seen;
the excitement of laughter
the twinkle in the eye
with its reminder
that life is good.
For all these
we make an act of gratitude
to God this day.
Amen
