2025 Pledge drive

Pledge Drive Message
& Giving Sunday

Sunday, Nov. 10

We’d love to have your financial pledge for budget year 2025 by this Sunday, Nov. 10, if possible. Here is our appeal for your support of our church and it’s missions:

Dear Members and Friends of Westport Presbyterian Church:
I love it that our congregation is a laundromat. And a clothing store. And a restaurant serving free food. And a resource center. And part of the Westport business community. And – last but not least – a community worshiping, praying, and learning together. WPC is a unique congregation, situated in a vibrant neighborhood, responding faithfully to God’s call to be people of good news.

WPC’s Session and Stewardship Committee are asking all in our community to make a financial pledge for 2025 so that we can resource our ministries in the coming year. Pledge Sunday is November 10 and we’d love to have your pledge by that date. You can make a pledge online (westportpresbyterian.org/pledge-drive). You can use a pledge card (included in Sunday’s bulletin). You can also call (816.931.1032) or email (info@westportpresbyterian.org) Deanna in the church office to make a pledge.

WPC raised about $94,000 in pledged giving for 2024. Thank you for your faithful and generous giving! Our Session has set a goal for budget year 2025 of $100,000 in pledged giving. Every pledge – large or small – will help us reach our goal.

We are pivoting into an adventurous year of discernment. We’re adjusting our leadership structures to fit our congregation. We’re seeking wisdom about how to best organize our collective passions and ministries. We’re continuing to take bold risks (like installing solar panels to be better guardians of the earth as well as to improve the sustainability of our church in the long-term). We’re experimenting with new ways to connect with and learn from one another. And even in the midst of transition, we’re receiving new members.

We’re grateful for our church’s endowment fund. In 2024, withdrawals from those investments provided around a third of our operating revenue. Yet moving towards sustainability for WPC will involve growing our giving, increasing other revenues, and simplifying our expenses where possible.

Change is constant. The KC Street Car extension is nearing completion and we’re surrounded by new construction. Your Session is facing the future with courage. What an exciting time to be an inclusive, prayerful, socially active faith community! In a time of division, our world needs us. In a time of economic and civic challenges, our city and neighborhood need us. WPC has a history of rising to meet the opportunities. Let’s do it again, together, with God’s help.

Peace, Jared
