About Us

Our Welcome Statement

All are welcome here.  We believe God’s love is for all people.  We follow Jesus in celebrating diversity in race, gender, sexual orientation, ability and disability, age and youth.”

–an affirmation of our church, passed by Session on May 17, 2016

We are a dynamic spiritual organization supported by a diverse community.  We are a small to medium sized church, with about 50-60 people in attendance on an average Sunday. You will find we are friendly and love meeting new people, so please plan to stay for our coffee hour after services are over and let us get to know you.

Mission
The mission of Westport Presbyterian Church is to discern God’s activity in the new millennium; to follow Jesus in ministries of service, healing, justice and prayer; and to make the city a better place for people to live, work and worship.

Music
Music is integral to our worship. Our services are accompanied by organ and piano music and percussion instruments. Our talented music director and choir help to lead us in bringing out the best of ourselves in singing songs of faith and love, both ancient and contemporary. We sing songs from various traditions around the world, sometimes in their original languages.

Open & Affirming
We welcome, accept, affirm, and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community as members of God’s beloved creation. We invite the full participation of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people of faith in the life, ministry and witness of the church.

We are a Matthew 25 church.

We pledge to act boldly and compassionately to serve people who are hungry, oppressed, imprisoned or poor.

Matthew 25: 31-46 calls us to actively engage in our community and the world around us. We will do this by embracing one or more of these areas of focus:

  • Building congregational vitality
  • Dismantling structural racism
  • Eradication systemic poverty

If you are looking for a church that seeks to serve God by serving others, as Jesus taught us, we hope you will join us!
