Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
2027 Pledge Drive

Dear Members and Friends of Westport Presbyterian Church:
Our congregation has been celebrating and sharing the good news of God’s Love in Westport since 1835. Just imagine how much Westport and the KC metro have changed over the past 190 years! Imagine how many generations and families have called WPC their spiritual home across that span of American history. Working together, and with God’s help, the next decade can be another exciting period of flexibility and faithfulness.
Through all these changes, WPC has continued to worship, pray, give, learn, connect, and work for the well-being of our neighborhood. Even through a terrible fire and the loss of a beloved pastor, WPC continues to enact its mission of making a difference in midtown. Now here we are, just a short decade away from celebrating 200 years of worship and ministry together! Perhaps the biggest cause for celebration is that we are more committed than ever to following the way of Jesus as we serve our neighbors with meals, clothing, laundry, showers, friendship, and support.
“What does this church want to become?” That question, posed by our architect, continues to inspire us. We are becoming a vibrant, inter-generational worshiping community in midtown. We are becoming a hub for showers and services for our neighbors. We are becoming a site for other organizations – Willow Woods, Missouri Workers Center, Westport Center for the Arts, NAAAP KC, Children’s Mercy Hospital, AA and Men’s Groups – as we share our space. These partnerships not only provide opportunities to collaborate in ways we serve our neighborhood, they also provide income as we work towards a sustainable future.
Rev. Dr. Jared Witt – once our “interim” pastor and now our installed pastor – is glad to be staying with us as we move into the future. Your Session is excited about what we can accomplish in the year ahead. We’re experimenting with new models of gathering and learning. We’re improving our processes and planning for growth. We’ve been energized by new members and new leaders joining us. But to stay on course, we need the continued generous giving of our community. Thank you for your prayers, your presence, your leadership, and your financial gifts this past year.
WPC’s Session and Stewardship Committee are asking all in our community to make a financial pledge for 2027. Every pledge – large or small – will help us resource our ministries, compensate our staff, and improve our facilities. Receiving financial pledges for 2027 during the Fall enables our Session to create a realistic budget and plan how to best use our financial resources in the year ahead. Pledge Sunday is November 8 and we’re asking you to make your pledge by that date. You can make a pledge online (westportpresbyterian.org/pledge-drive). You can use a pledge card (available at the church). You can also call (816.931.1032) or email Deanna in the church office to make a pledge (info@westportpresbyterian.org).
Peace,
Jared and your WPC Session: (Jeanne Reiss, Deb Anderson, James Capps, Madison Irwin-Hall, Diane Kennedy, and Bob Russell)
