Dear friends of Westport church and community,
We are following up last Sunday’s SPIRITUAL PRAISE DANCING during worship with an ILLUMINATED FAITH OF JESUS service this Sunday, August 15, where great art from all over the earth, from Middle Ages to Renaissance, Modern to Contemporary, is displayed on the big screens while scripture and interpretations are read and hymns sung.
This service will lift our hearts, light our minds and helps us understand and interpret the great work we are engaged in at this time.
A part of our effort on Sunday and during the week is to provide nutritious food. Westport may not be a food desert, but for many people living in poverty and yes, extreme poverty, in nearby apartment buildings, and those with nowhere to live but the street–our area is a NUTRITION DESERT. Affordable, nutritious food is not readily available. YOU CAN HELP by bringing in casseroles and other food items for the SUNDAY MORNING SHOWER MINISTRY. We have to approach each Sunday counting on feeding 30 people. Ask about ways you can help this growing ministry which will soon include a church nurse mission led by Diane Kennedy, retired nurse at Children’s Mercy Hospital.
Email me or contact Deanna Capps in the church office (816-931-1032 or info@westportpresbyterian.org) We are also providing 75 nutritious sack lunches a week right now.
Keep the faith……Rev Scott
