Children’s Sunday School
Young Children’s Sunday School Class meets during the first half of our worship service. Children are invited to meet with our teaching team leaders upstairs just prior to the service starting. They are welcome to stay and play under the babysitter’s watchful eye through the rest of the service. They will rejoin their parents after the worship service ends.
Parents are asked to fill out a short registration card before church begins with some basic contact information. (This form only needs to be filled out once).
Boy Scout Troop 60
Boy Scout Troop 60 began in 1914, and celebrated its 100th Anniversary during the summer of 2014. We held a reunion celebration in Loose Park on June 8 and then took the boys on a grand adventure to Rocky Mountain National Park. The troop is the oldest continuously chartered boy scout troop in the Kansas City metropolitan area, and continues to serve boys who live and go to school in the urban core. We have monthly camping trips, spend 10 days in summer scout camp and perform service projects in the community. The lives of many boys and their families have been saved, sustained and enriched by the troop. Its leaders are a dedicated group, ready, able and willing to bring the complete experience of scouting, including a great deal of individual attention, to boys who need that in their adolescent years.
Willow Woods Child Development Center
Our church is very involved in the 30 year old Willow Woods Child Development Center which is located on our property. The building is owned by the church. Our members serve on the center’s board and help take care of the center’s accounting and bookkeeping. We are committed to maintenance and ongoing remodeling of the center’s facility, as well as custodial and other support services that add to the day care center’s life and success in serving urban families with infants through kindergarten. The church and Willow Woods have also worked together in bringing music and tutoring resources to the children of Willow Woods.
