Dear Westport Presbies and Friends,
Pledge Drive
Dear Members and Friends of Westport Presbyterian Church:
The consulting group we worked with concluded that WPC is a healthy, unique, high-energy congregation ready to move ahead. Just this Fall, Heartland Presbytery approved our request to form a Pastor Nominating Committee so that we can begin making plans for what comes next. WPC is a diverse community celebrating the intersection of faith, justice, hospitality, and the arts. We do this joyful work together in the vibrant, changing neighborhood of midtown.
The KC Streetcar now brings people to our neighborhood just two blocks from the church. The streetscape along Westport Road has been improved with new landscaping and plantings. More improvements are coming – drawing pedestrians down Westport Road on their way to bars, restaurants, shopping, and art – right in front of our beautiful church building.
And we want everyone who walks by to know the full range of activities that happen here . . . holiday singalongs; community and support groups all week long; happy hours and quiet prayer gatherings on Tuesdays; meals for women and trans persons on Thursdays; concerts in the sanctuary and time for coffee and rest in our storefront Resource Center on Fridays; art receptions and community groups on Saturdays; and then of course Sundays are especially busy with showers, breakfast, discussion groups, worship and fellowship.
This transition period is a wonderful time to re-imagine what we have to offer and how we engage with our neighborhood. We want to be part of all this exciting growth in the year ahead. We want to deepen our connections with the neighborhood and widen our welcome. But we can only do that with the continued generous giving of our community. Thank you for your prayers, your presence, your leadership, and your financial gifts this past year.
WPC’s Session and Stewardship Committee are asking all in our community to make a financial pledge for 2026. Every pledge – large or small – will help us resource our ministries, compensate our staff, and improve our facilities. Having an estimate of pledges and gifts for 2026 will help our Session to create a realistic budget and plan how to best use our financial resources in the year ahead. Pledge Sunday is November 16 and we’d love to have your pledge by that date. You can make a pledge online (westportpresbyterian.org/pledge-drive). You can use a pledge card (available at the church). You can also call (816.931.1032) or email Deanna in the church office to make a pledge ([email protected]).
Peace, Jared (on behalf of Session)
