CALL TO WORSHIP: (Midlife, by Julie Cadwallader-Staub)
One: This is as far as the light of my understanding has carried me:
All: an October morning a canoe built by hand a quiet current
One: above me the trees arc green and golden against a cloudy sky
All: below me the river responds with perfect reflection a hundred feet deep a hundred feet high.
One: To take a cup of this river to drink its purple and gray its golden and green
All: to see a bend in the river up ahead and still say yes.
SCRIPTURE READINGS: Psalm 100
Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth. Serve the Lord with gladness; come into God’s presence with singing. Know that the Lord is God. It is she who made us, and we are hers; we are his people and the sheep of his pasture. Enter her gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise. Give thanks to her; bless his name. For the Lord is good; her steadfast love endures forever and his faithfulness to all generations.
CHORAL ANTHEM: Rabbi Weave Your Net of Words
DREAMING TOGETHER ABOUT THE FUTURE: We are pausing our worship at this time and gathering for small group discussions. We invite you to join us in considering these questions:
- Share an important memory in the church – a meaningful experience – a time when you felt most connected and alive.
- Dream a little. Imagine our congregation 3-5 years from now, when everything is as you wish it could be. What’s different? What role have you played in this unfolding of the congregation’s life?
*Our Session wants your input. You can share your answers in the facebook comments or email them to info@westportpresbyterian.org.
