Westport Presbyterian Annual Pledge Drive
Dear Westport Presbies, families, and friends,
We are reaching out to you to give you an opportunity to support our unique faith adventure! We do this pledge drive every year. Our goal is $112,000. That seems like a lot of money. It IS a lot of money. Westport Presbyterian Church serves our community in many ways. We have free programs, such as Dancing Word, Brown Bag concerts, Theater, Art Exhibits, Shower Ministry, and lunches for the homeless. We sponsor our local Boy Scout troop, a new cub scout troop and Willow Woods Daycare. We have our new bridge pastor, a music director, maintenance staff, secretary, and the building. All of this costs money! We need your support.
The recent passing of Scott, our pastor, has hurt us, but Scott would have wanted us to keep going. We need your help now, more than ever! We welcome your pledges, your donations (commemorative or otherwise!), your volunteer work, and your participation in our endeavors.
There have been donations given. Tremendous donations. We needed bottled water for the homeless this summer, and we got lots of water. We were in need of pants, and we got pants. We needed shoes. 70 pairs of shoes were donated. That’s a lot of shoes. Food. Someone is listening. There are people listening, and are willing to help us. Now, we need your financial support to keep our work going.
The people we serve are the homeless and elderly. We serve as many as 60-70 people on a Sunday morning. That is a lot of people to clothe, shower, feed, and wash their clothes. This church is doing a lot. We are a small congregation, and we serve more people in our shower ministry than there are in the pews on an average Sunday.
We are not going to give up what we are doing, for it is in good faith that we do these things for the least of our brothers and sisters. Our goal is to continue what our dear friend, Reverend Scott, said was working to follow Jesus in the best way we know how. We need money to support the church and keep it and its ministries going.
