Dear Westport Presbies, family and friends,
Excitement is building for heART and Soul, an art and spirituality camp for young people in our congregation and community. July 29-Aug. 2. Awesome artists Stan Morgan and Deanna Capps are leading this great work, along with adjunct staff(smile) in music, storytelling, food prep, games, nature exploration and volunteers. Attached is a poster and registration form for you to share widely.
This Sunday, June 30, 9:30 a.m. is a 5th Sunday Potluck Breakfast. Come and enjoy food and friendship before church. I will be on vacation (June 24-30). One of Kansas City’s and Heartland Presbytery’s spiritual leaders in mission, peacemaking and social justice, Rev Eric Garbison, will be leading worship. He and his spouse, Jodi Garbison, lead the Cherith Brook House of Hospitality (for homeless people) in the northeast area of the city.
Our church’s mission ministry and several of our members are major supporters and catalysts for a creative summer program of Kids Team up for Art at the Westport Roanoke, Garrison and Tony Aguirre Community centers. See attached photo of Taylor Brown, the inspiring leader of KTUFA.
Attached is today’s sermon “Five Minutes ‘Til Burnout”.
Please keep in your prayers Carly Simon(home), Steven Thomas (Marian Thomas’ son), Nancy
Brockman (Newmark Rehab Center), Nancy Gay (home), Mason (Joe Raach’ nephew), Brenda Catterfield (Joe Criswell’s sister), everyone involved in and needing our new shower ministry, all people harmed by this weekend’s flash floods, and all women struggling for reproductive rights and affordable medical care in Missouri.
Keep the faith…..Rev Scott
