Dear Westport Presbies, family and friends,
First of all we praise God for the recovery Carly Simon is making after a second back surgery. We pray for her continued healing
and give thanks for her courage and for the medical staff at KU Med Center. We also pray for Rebecca Bell(a musician who has been associated with our congregation across many years) in the death of her husband. Also Riva Capellari’s friend Tim Scholl in the sudden death of his wife, Sue. “Lead me, guide me….even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death…”
Chun Man Sit, the leader of the Tai Chi class at our church for many years, will be offering another Tai Chi workshop this spring, on a Saturday afternoon, that will benefit the church as well. Stay tuned for the date.
We are having a Youth Confirmation Class this spring! We thank God for moving in the hearts of our youth! This will be a six week class led by Rev Scott and Donna Kay Campbell. The young people will be joining the church on Easter Sunday.
We are also planning a summer spiritual experience for youth and children in the church and community (see attached photo.) To help us plan for this, Anni Brink of God’s Family Art Ministry in Minneapolis will be coming here on a weekend to train people who want to volunteer. She will also be involved in our worship service that Sunday. See attachment for a provisional concept for this summer experience. We will be focusing on “How We Treat Each Other” and “How We Treat the Planet”.
It’s still Epiphany, and we are focused on the theme of people realizing who Jesus is and beginning to follow him and practice his creative ideas, such as “Love Your Enemies”, “Take up your cross”, “Leave Self Behind”, “Go a Second Mile”. Attached is a sermon and a bulletin cover from our Epiphany worship services last Sunday.
