UNISON CALL TO RETURN TO OUR SOULS

Be alert, my people,  for the grace of the Living God!    The Light Of The World starting to shine within us.   We can see again!The scattered and shattered places within becoming whole.  Our worst wounds are being healed.    The Mysterious One’s constant, liberating power.   The inner light Christ is always kindling!    We are a called to become a people  freed by the Spirit’s power! Hallelujah!  Praise God!  Amen.

HYMN:  For All the Saints   GTG#326
CONFESSION AND COMMITMENT

You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, ‘I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.’  You must do the thing you think you cannot do. I believe anyone can conquer fear by doing the things they fear to do. For then you begin to develop the feeling that you have something outside of yourself and greater than yourself to depend on. There never has been a time when that feeling is more needed than it is today. People in trouble need just what little children need— a sense of security, a sense of something greater than their own powers to turn to and depend on. Amen. –Eleanor Roosevelt, longest serving FLOTUS in US history

All Souls’ Day
Set on the table the fragrant mignonettes, Bring in the last red asters, And let us talk of love again As once in May. Give me your hand to press in secret, And if people see, I do not care, Give me but one of your sweet glances As once in May. Each grave today has flowers and is fragrant, One day each year is devoted to the dead;  Come to my heart and so be mine again, As once in May.
Translation -Richard Stokes

UNISON Prayer of Dedication—

O Lord, remember not only the men and women of good will, but also those of ill will. But do not remember all the suffering they have inflicted on us, remember the fruits we have bought, because of this suffering – our comradeship, our loyalty, our humility, our courage, our generosity, the greatness of heart that has grown out of all of this, and when they come to judgment, let all the fruits we have borne be their forgiveness.”
— The prayer of an unknown saint, found on a piece of wrapping paper in Ravensbruck concentration camp ( a camp only for women and children) ; taken from Monica Furlong’s book, Women Pray.

POSTLUDE: Arise, My Soul, Arise—setting by Terry Osman

This is a lesser-known setting of a hymn, originally a Swedish hymn. The quote below is from the text.
Arise, my soul, arise!
Stretch forth to things eternal,
And hasten to the feet of your redeemer God.
Though hid from mortal eyes,
He dwells in light supernal;
Yet worship him in humbleness and call him Lord.
