CALL TO RETURN TO OUR SOULS
Pastor: All beings are words of God, God’s music, God’s art.
People: Sacred books we are, For the infinite camps in our souls.
Pastor: Every act reveals God and expands God’s being. I know that may be hard to comprehend.
People: All creatures are doing their best To help God in God’s birth of God.
All: Enough talk for the night. God is laboring in us; We need to be silent for a while, Worlds are forming in our hearts.
—adapted from Meister Eckhart(1260-1328) German theologian, philosopher, mystic
HYMN: Every Time I Feel the Spirit GTG#66
CALL TO CONFESSION AND COMMITMENT
Pastor: There is something basically messed up with our world.
People: We don’t have to look too far to see that.
Pastor: Look in the hearts and souls of human beings.
People: The great danger facing us today is not the atomic bomb, dangerous as it is.
Pastor: The real danger is that atomic bomb which lies in the hearts & souls of humans.
People: Capable of exploding in the vilest of hate and the most damaging selfishness.
Pastor: That’s the atomic bomb we must fear today.
People: And that is the basis of our confession
Pastor: And our commitment
People:To go beyond the mind that we now have. Amen.
