Some news for the upcoming month!

A Note From Our Pastor

I hope you can join us for worship during the month of September. On Sunday afternoon, Sept. 20, at 4pm, I will be installed as Pastor. This is the culmination of several years of work, prayer, and planning by WPC’s Session and Pastor Nominating Committee. And so this is a time for us to celebrate. We’ll be using the Sundays during September to explore the congregation’s vision for the future, to explore our sense of mission and who we’re becoming, and to remember that God gathers us in gladness. So please join us and also invite people you know who might be looking for deeper community life.

A couple upcoming events:

• Installation Service, Sunday September 20, 4pm.
This will be a worship service, led by Heartland Presbytery, to install Pastor Jared in his new role as WPC’s Installed, Designated Pastor role. There will be a reception following in the Fellowship Hall.
• New Bible Study for the Fall: WPC will experiment with a new format for a mid-week Bible study and discussion group this Fall. The goal for the gatherings will be two-fold: First, to help persons become more skilled in understanding Scripture and better able to relate the Bible to daily life; and second: to learn from one another as we deepen our connections as a community. Please let Jared know if you are interested in participating. The three dates in the Fall will be Wednesdays: Sept. 23, Oct. 21, and Nov. 18 (all 5:45-7pm).
• Book Club is currently reading The Separation of Church and Hate, by John Fugelsang.  Book Club meets on Sundays at 10am before church.

Looking Forward:
• Oct 25th, our church potluck will be followed by a performance. Renee and a friend will be playing WWII ballads as well as a few Broadway tunes.
• WPC Fall “Mini-Retreat” (tentatively scheduled for Saturday morning, Nov. 14, 9am-1pm). More information to come.

Calendar Highlights:

• Sept 6 – Stay for lunch and to play games after church (Hot Dogs and Uno)
• Sept 7 – Labor day Monday-church office closed.
• Sept 13 – Choir resumes. Welcome Back Singers!
• Sept 18 – WCA Brown Bag Concert Series: Mu Phi Epsilon
• Sept 20 – Installation service, reception afterwards

Committee meetings:
• Sept 8- Session meets at 5:30 on 2nd Tuesdays
• Sept 10- Worship and Christian Ed is scheduled for 2nd Thursdays at 6. If interested in participating, speak to James.
• Sept 16- Mission and Outreach is scheduled for 3rd Wednesdays at 8PM.  If interested in participating, speak to Madison.
• Sept 30 – Stewardship, Building, and Grounds is scheduled for last Wednesdays, 7pm. If interested in participating, speak to Bob
