Dear Westport Presbies, family and friends,
Greetings to you in the Spirit of Lent and our collective commitment to spiritual renewal by following Jesus with deeper intention.
You are invited to a 5th Sunday Pot Luck Breakfast at 9:30 am this Sunday, March 31. After church, our SHOWER MINISTRY takes another leap ahead with greater outreach to homeless persons in our community. Come and be part of this new ministry!
To further this soul work, we are having a speaker during the 9:30-10:30 am Sunday School hour on Sunday, April 14. Alankar Patel, MSW has extensive social work experience including managing a medical supply store assisting adults with mobility needs, coordinating care for homeless individuals, and counseling Veterans with mental health diagnoses. Currently, he works with the aging population. Alankar will be sharing his experiences working with the homeless population We will have an open discussion and collaborate on how we can best serve the community.
On Saturday, April 6, 1-3 pm, FAITH QUEST 4 YOUTH begins. We have four youth committed so far to this effort to engage youth in their questions, doubts, commitments and concerns about spiritual matters. Led by Rev Scott and Donna Kay Campbell. A six week(Saturdays) adventure and quest! Invite others!
Thanks to Karen Elmer and all who made and delivered a great meal to Cherith Brook House of Hospitality to the Homeless last week.
Westport Center for the Arts has a staged reading of “Weaving the Rain” a Native American play, coming up Fri-Sat, April 5-6, 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15. In the church sanctuary!
StandUpKc invites us to join them in a rally and march for $15/hour minimum wage and a union this Saturday, 4:30 pm in Grove Park (East Truman and Benton Blvd.)
Start signing up for our authentic Passover Seder, Thursday, April 18, 6:00 pm, led by interfaith leader Barry Speert. Pot luck dinner (no bread, yeast, milk products) following. We read from the Haggadah, dance, sing and learn!
